Gallery 1988 has just released a new book focusing on their annual Crazy 4 Cult show. At over a 170 pages, Crazy 4 Cult: Cult Movie Art is almost all art, with a forward from the show’s usual guest host Kevin Smith. I have a couple of pieces is there, Zissou Route (above) and The Reading (below). Can’t wait to get my hands on it! The show’s 5th installment opens July 8th in Hollywood, with a book release/signing party the following Sunday.
Friday, June 10th, Gallery1988 in Venice will be hosting a show dedicated to the cult comedy classic, “Wet Hot American Summer”. I’ve always been a fan of the over the top makeout scenes in this movie, as well as the ceremonial sharing of gum that precedes them. I decided to get them all together on one page and call it “Bubblegum Kisses”. Come down for the opening 7-10pm and say hi. The movie’s director David Wain will be there, along with some of the cast members I hope!
I was fortunate enough to be selected by the good people at Safewalls to participate in their Cirque Du Soleil art project. They have an amazing list of artists who each created a show poster for a Cirque production, and I was ecstatic to be assigned to Zumanity. There are medium and large prints available of each piece, and the collection of the actual pieces will be on exhibition soon. More details coming soon!
