I am excited to announce my participation in an upcoming two person show “Macrocosm” with the extremely talented Edith Lebeau. The show runs February 12 – March 5 at the very impressive Distinction Art in Escondido, California. The reception is open on Saturday, February 12th, from 6-10pm. Unfortunately Edith won’t be able to make it (she’s all the way up in Quebec!) but I’ll be there and I hope you will be too.

My third piece in the “Is This Thing On?” show at 1988 LA focuses on another of my favorite podcasts, Nerdist, and it’s hosts Chris Hardwick, Jonah Ray and Matt Mira. You really oughta be listening, especially the latest episode (#53 with Sarah Silverman) which was actually recorded at the gallery. They even mentioned my name on it, and I’m still picking up pieces of my head off the floor after it just exploded.
Since I am often at home, painting at the table and so very alone, I look to a lot of podcasts to keep me company. Comedy Death Ray is without a doubt one of my favorites, and for another piece for the “Is This Thing On?” show at Gallery1988 I had the chance to paint the shows creator and host Scott Aukerman. This piece probably doesn’t make much sense if you haven’t listened to it before, so you you should just go listen to it now.
Tonight (January 7th) Gallery1988 on Melrose opens it’s “Is This Thing On?” tribute to comedians. Judd Apatow was my assignment, and for some reason this image of Kirk with the Tribbles reminded me of the hairstyles Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, and Will Ferell were all sporting a few years back. They are each big Apatow collaborators, and for a minute it seemed like they were also everywhere (not that I minded).
